Chocolate and Flower Love!

My boys were in the mood for chocolate.  So chocolate I made! These should be called triple chocolate cupcakes!  Chocolate cupcake filled with thin chocolate Ganache (to the the point it would just ooze out of the cake) and topped with Ganache Frosting.  I think they got they wished for!

Again, inspired by the Greeks!!!

It's a custom for Greeks to have Mastic liquor after their meals.  It has a light, sweet and distinct flavor.  I love it!  Mastic is also used for medicinal purposes, cooking, baking, cosmetics, soap, body lotions and many other uses.  You will find it  in their famous Easter bread and ice creams.  So, I thought, why not in a cupcake? At first, I was worried that the flavor may be a little overwhelming, on the contrary, the frosting took the cake!!!  Buttercream and Mastic liquor, a match made in heaven!!!

How about the Frappe?  Everyone knows that a Greek will not do without his NesFrappe!  It is common to see them holding a Frappe for long periods in most coffee shops.  Well, it never occurred to me that this famous coffee would make such a stunning frosting!!  It was totally delicious!  Creamy, just the right dose of coffee and the Greek chocolate shavings really made this cupcake complete.  Perfect for that afternoon break!!!

LESS IS MORE!

The main theme for these cupcakes was simplicity….. flavors first and daisies second. The mother requested carrot cake with lemon glaze and a daisy on top. She emphasized keeping it simple. Nothing makes me happier than this! It epitomizes what I believe in, which is LESS is MORE. It is very disappointing when a cupcake is bombarded with decorations and alternately compromising the flavor. In the end you’re left wondering what you were eating! Kudos to Lucy!

Soccer Teams

These were made for a Soccer Club party.  To make everyone happy, the host requested the two most famous opposing teams of Greece, Olympiakos and Panathinaikos!!  This is as close as you'll ever see them peacefully together!

Piping skills?

This goes back to the beginning where I wanted experiment with my piping skills!... This can be sooo much fun!

Hmmm.....how about this?

Or this?

.......To be continued!

Let's start with the basics!!

These cupcakes were inspired by some of Greece's best ingredients the country has to offer, honey and yogurt!  And because it is one of the oldest ingredients still holding its high quality, I thought baking it in parchment paper and tying with twine, would give it that wholesome old country feel to it!  And it tastes really good!
